The Subcribe flag allows Taskhopper to act as a hybrid email broadcasting system. Each time a task is updated, email is sent to the owner, the person to whom the task is assigned and to any others on the subcription list. All details of the task are sent in each notification which eliminates having to login to see what's been updated.
