We are actively working on TH version 2.0. If this site seems neglected and without update it's because we are no longer extending the current version. The next release is a full rewrite.

As soon as we have a release date for beta, you can be certain we'll have that on the home page.

In conclusion...

Taskhopper grew out of the need for a remote group of people to be able to share ideas, manage projects and account for time. In our search for a solution we came across lots of excellent products but also realized there was no single category that described our need.

What we found was that most of these were too elaborate. Great example of some excellent software: DotProject (http://www.dotproject.net). Amazing system that's ideal for true project management, but the overhead/learning curve was a killer and if people don't update tasks, then it's just not going to work.

SugarCRM (http://sugarcrm.com) is another example of an amazing effort -- first class all the way. While it can manage tasks, it doesn't handle accounting for time consumed by tasks and that was one of our most urgent needs.

In fact, most products neglect the time issue which by our view, is the most important element we have. Even if you're not a consultant billing for each minute, knowing how you spend your time is critical to success.

This time element, combined with our Joomla direction, was the reason we created Taskhopper.

In closing, Taskhopper is not the best product out there. It's not very attractive and the room for improvement is large. However, if you have a group of people that all work together to achieve some similar goal, and you have decided that Joomla is your CMS foundation, then TH might be something worth trying. What if it doesn't fit your needs? Simple! Uninstall it and try something else or change it to make it fit.
