Yes, yes. We are very aware there is no Rudolph waiting for download here. Here's why we are a bit tardy this time:
Rudolph is a large change to Dingo. Not in function, but in cosmetic control. We knew the Dingo was ugly and we were never offended when you would remind us of this. It has always been our intent to get the functions in place first, then work on looks.
Within this next release you will notice some significant cosmetic changes. The filter, for example, now makes better use of space by orienting the dropdowns across the top.

The tabs at the bottom of each task, those are gone now replaced with industry-standard sliders:
The task items list has been improved to be more space efficient as well:
All of this is controlled via the CSS tab on the backend. If you're not familiar with this, think of this as a way to "skin" Dingo. We will release two skins with Rudolph and post more as we create them. Keep in mind, that if you're not a CSS hacker, it's ok. Using the default skin, with no changes, is a huge improvement over previous Dingo versions. Current Status
All this is up and running on our development/test server now. We are finishing up skin #2 and are shooting for a release this Friday. It's possible this will be pushed to Monday if we don't have all issues resolved by then. (We really don't want to release something that causes us to apologize, then send out patches.)
By the way, if you would like to help us with testing, consider this your formal invitation. VIEW MORE RUDOLPH SCREENSHOTS |

The next release of Dingo [Rudolph] will be out on the 4th of May with the public release on the 5th. Some of the upcoming changes include:
CAPTCHA on visitor tickets to keep spammers from putting Viagra ads in your Dingo database
Charged time will have only one date and time. (Currently you put in when you started and when you ended.) Instead you will just indicate x.x hours on whatever date.
Numerous cosmetic changes based on requests made via the forum.
Dropdown sorting (A..Z) for Clients and Projects
Backend will show DB stats to let admins know how much data is in the system. (# of clients, projects, tasks...)
Blocked users will no longer appear as available resources.
But the big news: This version of Dingo will be the beginning of a new method of being able to have better control over how Dingo appears in your template. More about the Dingo CSS Manager will be posted here soon.

In Dingo you are given nine different status types as part of the base installation that you are expected to customize to fit your business. When working with tasks, workers (or managers) have ability to filter by any of these.
In addition, there are two other selections that will appear in the filter that show you All Open or All Active. Open and Active are about the same, but slightly different which we will explain.
Before we tell you about those, we want you to know how we designed and use Dingo so you have an understanding of the logic behind this.
Some believe you are limited to the nine provided with Dingo. Not true. For example, we gave you a status called "Waiting On Client" which is common for Joomla projects. However, if you are running Dingo for a real estate office you could have lots of reasons to wait: - Waiting: finance approval
- Waiting: radon test
- Waiting: inspection
- Waiting: building permit
- waiting: offer submitted
The point is, if you need to be able to group things by the reason you're waiting, there is no limit. That's for you to decide. |
