UPDATE: We have changed our approach on this and a Zoltan patch was uploaded here last week. (We are not going to release an early version of Dingo Endre to make the Joomla 1.5.12 corrections) The reason for this is because once we release a version, we begin making changed for the next. By the time we confirmed the Joomla 1.5.12 problems, the next version of the code had already been significantly changed. Rather than rushing a half-cooked Endre from the oven, we decided to go back to Zoltan and make only those changes that fixed the Joomla 1.5.12 problems. The Zoltan patch is running on the demo site if you want to take a look there first.
Installation instructions: Just unzip and copy the source over your existing. (backup your site first of course)
Changes Included in the Zoltan Patch:
- Fixed Files list (was fully broken with J1.5.12 upgrade)
- Included Joomla version checking to account for editor change
- Projects can now be listed by date due
- In Reports, charges appear by start date, now when they were saved

As we had mentioned earlier, we finished Zoltan just moments from when Joomla 1.5.12 was released... and of course, we have found some issues that were not there in J1.5.11. In particular we are aware of a Warning message in the Files screen that prevents any files from being listed there. (All the attachments are still available within each item, just not from the Files screen)
Also, we found a few other items (mostly cosmetic) that were created by the 1.5.12 changes which we are addressing.
We will have a Zoltan II release very soon to address these items. Very sorry, just bad luck timing.
One last item: This is not just a Dingo issue. We have read on many support boards that after the upgrade to j1.5.12 some template functions stop working. So if you have not yet upgraded to the newest Joomla, look before you leap. |

Each time we get a request for a change, we are reminded our mission is to keep Dingo simple to use. Our objective is to not force you into a Dingo-style method of project management. Rather, we want Dingo to adapt to how you currently run your projects.
For example, we recently had a request to make the ItemID something other than the record prointer in the item table. If you've ever used any standard ticketing system, you'll see IDs like Ticket ID: AHK-5929260. Well, in Dingo, with a fresh install, you start with ID: 1
Let's assume you're writing a specification that will be used as the basis for a quote. Many begin this process with an outline created in a spreadsheet type of tool so it's easy to work with numbers. In a typical outline you will might have sections and sub-sections within. It's possible that each of your sections might begin with a letter and sub-sections would be the section letter followed by numbers.
e.g., A.1.1 could mean section A, sub-section 1.1. Dingo will never have an item ID generator that will accomdate this. So here is how you would use Dingo in this example.
In the New Item screen first create all of your major sections, making each of them a Controller.

After all of your major sections have been entered, then would go back and enter each of the subsections. As long as you place your unique ID at the start of the Item Subject you will be able to easily view your entire proposal in the order of your outline.

We recommend that for actionable items (tasks) you limit it to a.) your unique ID, 2.) the action required and 3.) the target of that action. If you want Dingo to help you with budget prep, then remember to put in an estimated time for each actionable item. (When you go to view the entire project, you will see a total of all your estimates for that project)
